The SHiFT Lab is seeking new volunteer research assistants to aid in conducting a community-based participatory action study exploring non-binary gender identities.
This study involves meeting with participants who self-identify as “non-binary” for two one-on-one semi-structured interviews. Research assistants will learn about participant recruitment, qualitative research methodology and design, critical psychology, and contemporary gender theory. Main administrative duties include managing participant recruitment and transcribing digitally-recorded interviews.
Undergraduates who are in their third year or above, or individuals who have completed undergraduate studies, and can also commit to 8-10 hours per week for at least 3-6 months are encouraged to apply. Note that prior experience as a research assistant in a social studies laboratory, as well as knowledge of LGBTQ identities and terminology is preferred.
