Brock University MA & PhD in Child & Youth Studies

1449788450_Little_Boy_YellowThe Child and Youth Studies Department offers research-based MA & PhD programs that provide students with advanced studies in a wide range of topics about children and youth through a multidisciplinary/transdiscliplinary lens. Most students entering our MA program have already completed undergraduate research methods and a research thesis however we do consider students without this background.

The CHYS MA program is typically a 2-year full-time program, however, part-time studies are available. The CHYS PhD program is typically 4 years full-time. Our doctoral program also has a fast-track option that may apply to particularly qualified internal MA applicants.

Students graduating from the MA program in Child and Youth studies often go on to pursue employment opportunities as educators, policy makers, policy analysts, researchers, consultants, youth workers, and managers in both public and private social service agencies, or to study at the PhD level in areas such as child and youth studies, anthropology, child psychology, criminology, cultural studies, education, social justice, or sociology.

Full funding packages are available to full-time students. The program begins considering MA applications on January 15th, 2017 and PhD applications on January 29th, 2017 and will continue until the program is full.
