1429574308_BahamasSOC 803 International Community Engagement will be offered by the Sociology Department as a credit course in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, in the northern Bahamas, at the Every Child Counts School (ECC) for children with special needs.

The course is taught for 10 days during the fall 2016 study break with some required classes at Ryerson in September 2016. The course offers an intensive educational opportunity for Faculty of Arts students to contribute to a social justice educational project and to learn about development issues from Bahamian community leaders. It teaches the tourist postcard depiction of the Bahamas is not the lived reality for most Bahamians.

The course will be taught by Sociology Professor Jean Golden, the founder and director of the Ryerson Bahamas Educational Project since 2011. www.arts.ryerson.ca/thebahamasproject

Students can select this course through the University intention process. Final acceptance is dependent on the Sociology application and selection process found at
