The Integra Social Competence Group Program serves children and youth with social difficulties.

We are interested in having one or two research volunteers join our team to assist with our research related to the Integra Social Competence Group Program taking place in 2016. This opportunity would ideally be suited to upper-year undergraduate students who are interested in gaining research experience in preparation for graduate studies.

The time commitment for this position will be approximately a 1/2 day per week at Integra, CDI (located at Yonge and Davisville). The research project is set to begin at the beginning of January and run until December 2016.

  • University studies (in psychology or related field) completed or in progress, including coursework completed in research and statistical methodology
  • Interest and experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Experience with Excel, SPSS, and conducting literature searches
  • Responsible, reliable, strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities will include observational coding of video recordings, data entry of quantitative measures related to social skills, data management (using Excel and SPSS), and running statistical analyses (volunteers will be well-supported with this).

In addition to providing all volunteers with a formal orientation prior to the start of involvement with Child Development Institute, we provide monthly learning sessions for volunteers, students and employees. At the beginning of their position, volunteers will be provided with one-on-one or group training depending on the nature of the research project on which they will be assisting. Ongoing direct supervision and training will also be provided to the volunteer.
